In this project, I built an imaginary and wonderful world of monsters, from the perspective of the character Emerald. My inspiration of characters comes from ancient Chinese stories, especially from Classic of Mountains and Seas, based on which, I created new stories and new settings. Emerald lived in an isolated lake alone as an otter for thousands of years. However, her lake dried up recently, and she decided to leave her lake and start travelling all over the world. In her journey, Emerald met different people, cultures, and events. Details and secrets of this world would be presented along with the tour. I choose Emerald’s story and perspective as the focus of my project because I’m also someone who leaves hometown and stays in a new country alone. So I can empathy with her. Different cultures, loneliness, and exploration are the themes.
