Home is rooted in a sense of belonging and safety rather than a physical place. There is always a risk that a place once called ‘home’ becomes a site of loss and grief. Conversely, something unknown becomes a source of comfort. I am interested in how our relationship to home is influenced by our experiences and emotions and how rarely it is tied down by a physical place. Home is not just family, joy, and warmth. Home is also grief, pain, and sadness. These are not separated, but rather overlapping and often contradictory. They can exist together or side-by-side. I asked myself: how can I express joy and grief at the same time? How can I create art that expresses that?
