My thesis surrounds the question: What is package design? In this book I curated and designed an inventory of package design. My main fields of focus to research, understand, and redesign were environmental, minimalism, maximalism, color/shape, type, and form. Brands have very strict design guidelines that create a distinct and memorable experience for the consumer. This project allows for me to disrupt this consumer and brand relationship. By making these designs I’m growing my own understanding of how package design works while also creating design challenges to better my own skills. I think designers have endless possibilities when it comes to packaging. Through this project I wanted to push the boundaries of package design and see what happens to a brand and it’s consumers. There are so many ways packaging can be constructed and morphed from start to finish and that is why I want to understand what’s right and what’s wrong. Maybe there isn’t an answer or maybe there is?
