Quirky Desserts from the Lamothe Kitchen is an exploration of retired family recipes and the interpersonal relations that are formed through cooking. This illustrated cookbook showcases dessert recipes from my grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, dating from the 1950’s through the 1970’s. Through historical research, familial anecdotes, and slice of life illustrations, this book aims to contextualize these desserts and bring their spirit into the twenty-first century. For each retro recipe, there is an illustrated scene, set in modern day, that provides a glimpse into the many connections that people share, and how food can be a catalyst for forging those connections.
