The USDPA is multimedia artist Dana F. Hinkson's commentary on the state of Cancel Culture, the cultural disassociation from/dissent toward something/someone that is deemed 'problematic', in real time. ‍ She finds its nature to be doctrinal as it is an exemplar of the People realizing their power and using it to form their own government. Cancel Culture has allowed the People to ensure that ‘justice’ is served (e.g. The Weinstein Case) as the justice system—especially the United States’— is heavily flawed. However, because the People have not yet experienced a completely un-oppressive and humane government, they eventually refer to the ways of oppressive regimes to establish a sense of order (e.g. fear mongering and censorship). ‍ After years of experiencing social anxiety and low self-esteem that pushed her to seclude herself, Hinkson would learn that the abuse of Cancel Culture contributed to this spiral. Without having a fixed set of rules outlining what qualifies a person to be deserving of cancellation, how severe their punishment should be, and if/how that person can redeem themselves—there have been numerous instances were people that deserved to be canceled were not held accountable while others that were innocent in comparison received extreme punishment.
