Dreams have always been interpreted and investigated. However, it has never been fully understood. There were many hypotheses regarding what dreams are throughout history. For example, Sigmund Freud consider “the content of dreams is driven by unconscious wish fulfillment”; Carl Jung believe dreams present us with our internal conflicts and will try to solve them in our mind. There are also Neurological theories like dreams are our brain in REM sleep trying to interpret changes in the real world (temperature, sound and etc.). Diving into the different perspective of the dream is some thing I want to do in this project.

I have the habit of recording my dreams. By illustrating these stories, I want to explore the unlimited possibilities of what dreams might bee and what it may contain. Since the content are based on my own dreams, I will make the illustrations using traditional media. It will be more personal to do the paintings by hand. In order to create the feeling of uncertainty that one may have in a dream, I used different medias (for example, acrylic and relief prints) in one story.

The final deliverable is a pop-up book with 3 stories. It is more like an interactive experience. The pop-ups creates a cinematic setting for the readers to dive in.
