Growing up, I started assisting my mom in the kitchen from a young age, which led to my continued interest in cooking and healthy eating. However, I have had many friends that never thought about healthy eating or cooking for themselves until later into adulthood, because they were not involved in the cooking process early on. So, combining my love of cooking with my love of illustration for kids, I decided to create a cooking kit for young children.

After talking with an educator from a local after-school program who worked in the kid’s wing, I learned that my kit does not necessarily need tools, as many facilities have a small but stocked kitchen. Instead, they need resources to get the kids interested in wanting to participate. So this kit gives kids between the ages of 3 and 6 a book to read on their own or with an adult, an apron to wear while cooking, and fun looking recipe cards featuring recipes easy enough to make with kids.
