Objects exchanged and accumulated during intimate relationships help to represent an overarching, collective personality. This project examines my parents’ early relationship as a case study, demonstrating an intertwined narrative dependent on physically transmittable items.

This project was largely inspired by the box of keepsakes my mother stores in my family’s attic. Analyzing this box of letters and mementos, I decided to frame my thesis project around this process of discovery, packaging my themed projects into a container that can be handled the same way I was able to explore my mother’s collection. My thesis is broken up into six smaller in-depth projects that collectively break down different areas of communication and expression through object based connections utilizing forms frequently found within my mother’s collection.
